custom wedding paper: George & Mark's modern Old City, Philadelphia wedding

I’ll never forget meeting George at the winter Lovesick Expo in 2017. He marched right up to my booth, introduced himself, told me he had seen my work online, and wanted more information about working together. I was delighted that someone was excited about what I was doing! But a lot can change between a wedding expo and the actual day of the wedding, so I didn’t want to get too excited. Alas, a few months later, I did hear from George and the rest is history!

Little did I know that this couple is a creative powerhouse! Mark is a local artist, working with collage as his primary medium. George is a blogger/foodie/influencer who has a comprehensive blog and a drool-worthy Instagram highlighting his adventures. They came in to the wedding invite process armed and ready with a logo, a color scheme, and a pretty solid idea of what they wanted their wedding invitation suite to be.

I followed the lead of the hexagon logo they had designed previously and incorporated it in the main invite. The couple wanted to share some of their favorite local places with their guests, so the hand drawn map was a real highlight of the whole suite. It tucked perfectly in the Signature by Cards & Pockets.

To balance the crisp lines of the type and the hexagon shape, I used painted brush strokes as a pattern on the main invitation. We also splurged and got custom envelope liners printed from Cards and Pockets as well; the color and texture was created using rollers in my studio, then scanned in to be reproduced.

In one of the early iterations of the invitation suite, I hand-painted their names based on a retro font. I was honestly so proud of the job I did with the painting that I decided to print a couple of that version as well. Which version do you prefer?

It was such an honor to work with George and Mark on their wedding invitation suite! Do you want to work together to make a custom wedding invitation suite for your big day? Drop me a line here!
